Traditional Blueberry Buckle

 

What You Need

1/3 cup shortening

¾ cup sugar

2 eggs

½ cup milk

1 ½ cup flour

2 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp nutmeg

1/8 tsp cloves

2 cups fresh blueberries

Topping:

½ cup sugar

1/3 cup flour

1/3 cup butter


Directions:

1) Beat shortening together with sugar, eggs and milk.

2) Stir in flour, salt, powder, and spices. Gently fold in blueberries. Spread into a 9” greased and floured pan.

3) Make topping as follows: Cut or crumble together ½ cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, and 1/3 cup butter. Sprinkle this mixture over batter in pan.

4) Bake at 350-375 for about 40 minutes.
