FAQs

IS THERE BIRTHDAY PARTY OR EVENT SPACE AVAILABLE?
We do not currently allow private parties at the farm.

WHEN IS THE ORCHARD OPEN FOR PICKING?
Summer (June-Aug): Tuesday-Sunday 9-1.
Fall(Labor Day-Halloween) : Tuesday-Sunday, 9-5

ARE YOU OPEN IN THE RAIN?
It depends on the severity of the weather. Call the farmstand or check our announcements on the homepage for up-to-the-minute information.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO KEEP UP WITH CHANGES AT PICK-YOUR-OWN?
Sign up for our email newsletter to find out what’s being picked each week. Daily changes and announcements are posted on our website and Facebook, or you can call the store staff at (860) 464-7305.

HOW DOES IT WORK? WHERE DO I START?
Upon arriving on our farm, you will be greeted by our staff who can tell you what crops we are picking, how to identify ripe fruit, and where to go in the orchard. You will purchase picking containers before entering the field. Then simply fill you container and bring home to enjoy!

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN CONTAINERS?
We will supply all picking containers. No outside containers will be permitted.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Our pricing is volume based, but container sizes and prices vary by crop. We offer individual picking containers as well as family pricing in most instances. Maximum group size per picking container may apply.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?
We are animal lovers too, but no pets are allowed in the orchard. We provide a food-safe environment and cannot risk contamination. So unfortunately, dogs are not permitted outside your vehicle. This would violate our GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certification for health and sanitation on the farm.

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?
Absolutely. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

CAN I EAT FRUIT WHILE IN THE ORCHARD?
Absolutely no sampling or eating in the field per the CT Department of Agriculture.

HOW SOON BEFORE CLOSING TIME DO I NEED TO ARRIVE?
Please plan on arriving at least 25 minutes before closing time. Allow more time if you are looking to gather a large amount of fruit or a leisurely stay with friends and family.

DO YOU HAVE HAYRIDES?
Yes. We run wagon rides, at no cost, through the orchard on Saturdays and Sundays in September and October.

CAN I SMOKE IN THE ORCHARD?
Holmberg Orchards is a 100% smoke-free environment.

CAN I HAVE MY FAMILY PHOTOS TAKEN IN THE ORCHARD?
We do not allow any professional portrait photography sessions.
